Taking a Look at Vintage Decorative Doors

Are they just beautiful vintage decorative doors or are they something more? Do you ever find yourself walking along the streets of old historic towns looking at the beautiful old buildings? There is something mysterious, yet magical about the intricate architecture, the old patina iron work, the aged brick, the weathered wood, and the broken plaster left behind as a reminder of time passing.

I have always been fascinated with old, artistic, or interesting doors. They make a statement that offers you a small hint of what possibilities await you when you enter. Old doors give me the feeling as if I were about to step into a time warp.

Maybe it would be a similar experience like the 1975 classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Then again, I would like to think it would be more like the 1980 movie Somewhere in Time.

Vintage Decorative Doors on Outbuildings

These vintage decorative doors are found on outbuildings of historical landmarks in various areas of Nevada county. Undoubtedly, there are many historical sites and buildings that give you a great opportunity to collect some nice photos.

Door Quotes From Famous People

All through history, people have used the image of a door as a way of persuading, encouraging, or motivating people to take some kind of action or make some kind of transition in life. Here are some quotes I have matched up with the different pictures of doors I have taken.  Most of them are from the Nevada County area of the Northern California Sierra Foothills. It is an area rich in Gold Rush history.
